ATXgossip insider David attended the world premiere of Star Trek Beyond at San Diego Comic Con with Chris Pine in attendance.

David took a break from the convention madness to send us back some pictures and thoughts, including the stellar shot of Chris Pine below.

Or maybe he was just killing time since he’s been in line for Conan Con night two since 5am PST.

Either way, we’re grateful.

Pre event, David stalked out the celebs, as any good ATXgossip guy or gal would do, and snapped these shots of Idris Elba and Pine, who was so dedicated to getting to the crowd, he even reached over a fence to sign autographs for fans.

When the stars hit the stage to intro the movie, they payed homage to the late Leonard Nimoy and cast member Anton Yelchin.

As Zachary Quinto spoke of how much Nimoy meant to him, he got a bit choked up, while JJ Abrams talked about Yelchin, asking the crowd for a moment of silence. In the theatrical version of the film, both actors are honored in the credit sequence.
David’s two sentence review of the film via text goes like this:

“I really liked it. Better than 2 but not 1.”

He also notes that the film pays tribute to Nimoy and all of the original cast in a great way.

Another event highlight; the San Diego symphony dazzling the crowd with the Star Trek score.

As if seeing a free sneak of the movie with Chris Pine and cast in attendance wasn’t enough, he also walked away with this stellar swag bag.

Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters Friday, July 22.
