The Austin Film Society has announced the full line-up of honorees for the 2017 Texas Film Hall of Fame. While this year’s lineup isn’t as star-studded as in past years, there is one name we are quite excited about.

Legendary actress Shirley MacLaine will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Texas Film Hall of Fame.

While MacLaine is not technically a Texan, she beautifully portrayed Aurora Greenway in both Terms of Endearment and The Evening Star, prompting Richard Linklater to say this of her performance.

(MacLaine) Introduced the world to a fearless and determined Texas woman, a character with a spirit of independence and self-reliance that resonated richly with Texans. She has left her mark on our regional cinema, and we’re honored to celebrate this legacy at the Texas Film Awards.” – Richard Linklater

The Oscar winner will also accept the Star of Texas Award for Terms of Endearment at the ceremony on March 9 at the Austin Studios.

Other recipients of this year’s awards are directors Jeff Nichols and Hector Galán, and Rising Star honoree Tye Sheridan and Academy Award®-nominated producer Sarah Green, whose Texas-made films include Terrence Malick’s Song to Song and The Tree of Life, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the event are available here. The Texas Film Awards serve as the unofficial kick off to SXSW.

Last year’s event was attended by Carol Burnett, Brooklyn Decker, Jesse Plemons, Chandra Wilson and more. You can watch our totally Texan interviews with each of them here.
