If you ever wanted to find out if Matthew McConaughey has any vocal chops, here’s your chance.

Austin’s favorite son voices a gung-ho koala named Buster Moon in the new animated feature Sing. While there wasn’t actually a song included for him to perform, the Oscar winner convinced film makers to give him a chance.

“I said, ‘Look, nothing’s written for me to sing, but if you come up with something, I’d love to give it a shot,’ ” McConaughey told USA Today.

When asked if he knew Carly Rae Jepson’s Call Me Maybe, he replied that he had obviously heard the song.

“Leave the recording (going) and I’ll do it over and over 20 times and we’ll pick one out of there,” he said.

According to an interview with E! News, McConaughey’s three kids loved his performance. Though, they were more impressed with his famous co-stars like Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and more.

The family friendly film hits theaters just in time for Christmas, opening nationwide on December 21.

If you’re hoping to spot Matthew McConaughey and his brood out and about during the holidays, no luck. He told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show that they are all headed to Brazil.
