As those winter temps continue to set in, you may be ordering up a holiday drink and unpacking your favorite boots but we’re still day dreaming about beach days and sunsets over here. If you need an escape but don’t have that many days to get away, the Texas coast is the place for you!

When we took a trip to Mustang Island, we really didn’t know what to expect. The only Texas beach we had visited prior to this was in the Galveston area and quite honestly, we were not impressed. But on this particular trip, we were pleasantly surprised.

A resort called Lively Beach served as our home away from home. It’s a vacation rental property made up of six blocks of 23 rooms making it a perfect destination for families, couples, a guys or girls weekend, or even a solo retreat!

The property includes a private beach that looks more like it’s on the east coast than on the gulf. A raised boardwalk connects you to the beach where you’ll find people surfing, kiteboarding, fishing, and simply relaxing in the sun.

Since the units are set us as vacation rentals, you’ll have a full kitchen which is clutch. However, you will need to bring along anything you may need like beach towels, chairs, water, etc.

If you do forget anything, Corpus Christi is just mere miles away. And speaking of Corpus, we made the most of our time in the area. Before heading home we visited the best Selena themed spots as well as a filming location from one of our favorite 80s flicks, The Legend of Billie Jean. Be sure to stop by Pyatt’s Surf Shop for your very own “Fair is Fair” picture!
