The Boy Meets World cast is the latest TV series/ movie to reunite in the name of charity! The cast has very graciously decided to host a virtual reunion which will benefit DonnorsChoose. The Boy Meets World reunion will take place on Saturday, May 23. Cast members participating will include Danielle Fishel (Topanga), Will Friedle (Eric), Rider Strong (Shawn), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Trina McGee (Angela) and Matthew Lawerence (Jack).

Not sure why the actual boy who meets world isn’t joining but perhaps that will be explained during the reunion.

You can get more information on the event and buy tickets here.

This isn’t the first Boy Meets World reunion (and probably not the last).

The cast reunited at the second annual ATX Television Festival here in Austin and that reunion was much more well rounded. Attendees included Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Matthew Lawrence, Betsy Randle, Trina McGee, Maitland Ward, Lily Nicksay, and Michael Jacobs (creator). Sadly, Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga, was not in attendance.

ATXGossip caught up with the gang on the opening night red carpet and, even though it was excruciatingly hot, the actors were more than happy to chat.

Turns out Ben Savage had arrived in Austin earlier in the week and was spotted at all kinds of ATX haunts. We asked him how he enjoyed his week.

“I’ve been going to a lot of concerts, eating a lot of food, going to fun places around Austin. Having a great time.”

During the reunion Q&A, the actors were asked how they each would have personally ended the series.

The cast all said they thought the original ending was perfect.

Except for Rider Strong, that is.

“My love story-line ended in break-up which was kind of depressing. So I think I would’ve ended it with Shawn and Angela getting together.”

Matthew Lawrence shared a personal story about shooting the final scene of the entire series:

“I’ll never forget it. I was actually eating behind camera and they were like ‘Oh my God, this is the last scene!’ I had, like, food in my mouth and I ran out and was trying to clean my teeth on camera. If you actually look, you can see I was almost unprepared. It was kind of the best way to go out because if I would’ve thought about it, I probably would’ve gotten a little bit upset. And it was… it was upsetting after. But it was so raw, so it was kind of the perfect ending.”

With it being a television festival and all, we had to ask the cast about their all-time favorite TV shows. Savage was hesitant to reveal House Hunters while Strong couldn’t decide between Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Nicksay said all the ’90s shows and McGee listed The Real Housewives, Love and Hip-Hop and Parenthood.

We have to wonder what they’re all watching now. Maybe we’ll find out at the upcoming reunion.

The biggest takeaway from the panel was the fact that the cast insists the show would not have been as successful if they hadn’t been such a “family” both on and off camera. And that still seems to be the case even 20 years after the series wrapped.

The spinoff series Girl Meets World was canceled in 2017 but both shows are available for stream on Disney+.
