The ATXgossip crew loves sharing the work of the Best Austin Bloggers and Influencers. We’ve already chatted with a slew of fashionistas, artists, travel bloggers, writers… and we’re nowhere near done! This week we’re introducing you to Chris Rogers of www.chrisrrogersartist.com

Chris has been an artist his entire life. He left Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where he grew up, to study studio art at Hobart and William Smith College in New York. After graduating Chris started being a full-time artist. His medium of choice is murals, canvas, and live event paintings.

Chris moved to Austin in 2012 where he’s become a staple in the local art scene. He has gained notoriety for his artistic contributions and collaborations. He’s been featured numerous times in KXAN, FOX7, The Austin-American Statesman, The Chronicle and Newsweek. You’ve probably seen some of his work around Austin. His most recent mural that gained momentum is his incredible Black Lives Matter mural called ‘If He Can’t Breath, We Can’t Breath’ located outside of Native Hostel on the east side.

Sunson Studios recently did an incredible short documentary on Chris and the story behind his mural.

Since Chris is an Austin transplant we decided to ask him our Totally Texan questions, as well as a few ATX-tra things.

What’s your favorite Austin shot movie or TV show?

Office Space!

Who is your favorite Texas band/ musician?

Erykah Badu

What actor would you classify as “totally Texan”?

Jaime Foxx

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Michael B. Jordan

What advice do you have for aspiring Austin artists?

Make a start and never give up. Take pride in the fact that you can not only imagine things, but that you have the ability to create them and bring them into existence. Be grateful for the journey because it is your path glory. Tribulation is unavoidable whether you pursue your dream or not, so why settle for anything less than exactly what is in your heart? The only way to fail is to give up or never try at all. If you can see it, then you’re half way there. Surround yourself with like-minded people because passion is contagious, and no one person can perpetually fuel their own fire.
