The Texas Film Awards have announced the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event and it’s Dazed and Confused star Parker Posey. Of course, Posey had starred in many project over the years like Blade Trinity, Best in Show, You’ve Got Mail and more, but it’s Dazed and Confused that connects her to Austin.
Additionally, this year’s Rising Star Award recipient is actress Kaitlyn Dever, whom you may recognize from BOOKSMART and Netflix’s Unbelievable. Dever hails from Dallas where, fun fact, her father served as the voice of Barney the Purple Dinosaur.
Grammy Award-winning musician Adrian Quesada of the Black Pumas and Grupo Fantasma fame will serve as Music Director for the night.
More announcements will be made in the coming weeks. In the meantime, head over to the AFS site to purchase your tickets for the ceremony that serves as the unofficial start of SXSW. It’s happening on March 12 at Austin Studios. Proceeds from the event benefit AFS’s filmmaker support programs.
