It was also hot in 1995 when the nation glued itself to every dramatic glove-wearing, smug look-giving moment of the O.J. Simpson trial. In a similar fashion to now, 24-hour news channels aired every live moment of it – breaking news be damned.  

Hard to believe, but it’s been more than 20 years since the NFL Hall of Fame football star was arrested for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.  

Spoiler alert for those who’ve been under a rock since the mid-90s: he was acquitted and we all did a collective “&$*#&@*!!!!!” in response.

Enough time has passed and the fascination with the soap opera like affair of that courtroom still thrives. Did we mention that murder is so hot right now? So hot.

Cue dependable hit-maker and longtime showrunner Ryan Murphy to bring the gritty underbelly of the real-life drama to the small screen for us.

American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson is a 10-episode series that will premiere on FX this Tuesday, Feb. 2. Title format sound familiar? That’s because this series is piggybacking off the successful model of Murphy’s other FX limited run series, American Horror Story. Each season will shift focus and dive into a new criminal justice exploration with a whole new cast. Hey – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

The cast this time around nails it on paper… with one exception. We’ll let you guess who.
