Moontower Comedy Festival 2016

Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival once again brings some comedy heavyweights to Austin, Texas.

Produced by the Paramount Theatre and happening on April 20-23, the festival welcomes both big name comedians and up-and-comers to the ATX.

In previous years, headliners included Bill Hader, Fred Armison, Dennis Miller and Seth Meyers.

This year features more SNL faves and other familiar names.

Here are the top 10 joke slingers we are most excited to see at Moontower Comedy Fest 2016.

#10 – Brendon Walsh

Oh, wait. It’s not Brandon Walsh? Never mind.

#9 – Andy Kindler

Known for roles on Everybody Loves Raymond, Wizards of Waverly Place, Bob’s Burgers and Last Comic Standing.

We chatted with Kindler in 2013 and learned he’s a fan of Austin City Limits, Salt Lick BBQ and the always hilarious Rick Perry.

#8 – Anjelah Johnson

The former cast member of MAD TV is also a former spokesperson for Taco Cabana and NFL cheerleader.

Winner winner chicken, or burrito, dinner!

#7 – Janeane Garafalo

The actress/ comedian is know for roles on The Ben Stiller Show, SNL, Wet Hot American Summer and Reality Bites.

Former staffer Cameron Cooper snapped this pic with her at the comedy festival in 2013.

#6 – David Cross

You may not know his name, but you probably know his face. Cross has starred in Arrested Development, Modern Family, Just Shoot Me and many more comedy projects.

He’s married to Amber Tamblyn from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Two and a Half Men and Joan of Arcadia.

#5 – Jason Mewes

He’s Jay to Kevin Smith’s Silent Bob. And Silent Bob is nothing without him.

#4 – Kevin Smith

Speaking of Silent Bob (see what we did there?), he’ll be there too.

Smith is also known as a producer/ writer/ director and currently stars on AMC’s Comic Book Men.

He’s also working on Clerks III and a sequel to Mallrats called Mallbrats.

#3 – Colin Jost

The Saturday Night Live writer can be seen each week on the Weekend Update segment during SNL. It took us a while to get used to him but we love the pairing with Michael Che.

#2 – Leslie Jones

Also a current Saturday Night Live primetime player, Jones will be seen this summer in the Ghostbusters reboot alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig and SNL co-star Kate McKinnon.

#1 – Martin Short

The most well known name and face of the fest, if you don’t know who Martin Short is, you live in a van down by the river. That’s not the right reference, is it? How about this…

And there you have it. It’s a party at the Moontower and we’ll see you there!
