Terminator

Let’s start with some surprising news: I have never seen a Terminator film. That’s right. No Sarah Conner chronicles for me. Of course, I’m quite proficient in pop culture so I’m not completely in the dark. But when I heard about the Terminator: Dark Fate film, I decided that would be my introduction to the world of Terminator.

So, was I confused, you ask?

I was not!

Terminator: Dark Fate star and Austinite Gabriel Luna at the film’s Austin premiere.

They fill you in on how things ended with Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenneger’s characters right at the top of the film. It’s simple and short and clears up any confusion from the jump.

From there on out, there’s really nothing that you miss by not seeing the original films.

In fact, when I asked star Gabriel Luna what he would say to someone who’s never seen one of the previous films, he had this to say.

“Come to our movie and you’ll have fun, ” Luna said. “You’ll get to know these characters and grow to love these characters in a very short amount of time. And then the movie is just a cannon shot from that point on and you’re hanging on for dear life… as you follow them running for theirs.”

Obviously, I had no expectations for the film and I think that played a part in my viewing experience. I simply enjoyed this film for what it is: an action packed thriller lead by a trio of tough women. I wasn’t aware going into the film that there were female leads other than Linda Hamilton.

Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. These women are large and in charge and I am here for it!

I hope this tale continues with these ladies because they deserve to keep doing what they do, which is kicking ass!

On top of that, the story is easy to follow, the effects are spectacular and the rest of the cast ain’t too shabby either.

This flick is definitely worth the ticket price.

Terminator: Dark Fate is in theaters now.
