Quidditch Cup

Harry Potter fans rejoice! The US Quidditch Cup is coming to Round Rock.

The 11th annual tournament will be held April 14-15, 2018, at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.

Texas apparently has more registered Quidditch teams than any other state and the Austin area is home to two national championship winning teams: Texas Quidditch (2013, 2014 and 2015) and Texas Cavalry (2017).

Doubt the athleticism of a sport that became famous by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?

The real life sport of Quidditch is described as a unique mix of rugby, dodgeball and tag.

And, according to Reddit user GustavusAdolphin, it’s totally legit.

“I have a friend who plays and it’s actually a pretty legit sport. The only thing that’s a little ridiculous is that you have to hold a broom between your legs at all times. That really just seems like an unnecessary allusion to the series,” he says.
