Taylor Kitsch

When Taylor Kitsch steps up to you on a red carpet, you’d think it would cause immediate nerve rattling anxiety. At least, that’s what I thought.

For an hour before his arrival, I intensely fretted about it.

What should I ask? How should I ask it? What if I say something stupid? I’m definitely going to say something stupid. What am I even doing here? I didn’t sign up for this. Who signed me up for this? I was simply coming to take pictures. How am I going to keep it together? I am not going to be able to keep it together. This is Tim Riggins we’re talking about. TIM. FREAKING. RIGGINS.

But then, there he was. Smoothly navigating the line of journalists. Smiling, joking, exuding confidence, and putting everyone around him at ease. Myself included.

Not only was I able to make it through my three minute interview, I was able to make it through unscathed. No embarrassing moments. Not in my opinion anyway, though I should work on laying off the “ummm.”

When asked one of my questions, he even responded, “That’s a good question. I love that question!”

Be still my heart.

So, what did I ask Taylor Kitsch about? American Assassin, of course (the film opens in theaters on September 15). But we also got to talk about Austin (the city he has called home for the past 12 years), his favorite things about Texas and the upcoming Spike series  Waco. A project which he says is the best work of his career.

Watch the entire interview with the Friday Night Lights legend below and stay tuned for an interview with Dylan O’Brien which will be published later this week.

A review of American Assassin will be posted closer to the film’s release date.
