ACL Music Festival

It’s almost time for one of our favorite weekends of the year: ACL Music Festival.

We love the music, of course. But we also love celebrity watching while at the fest. And this year, there are quite a few performers who have “celebrity status,” at least in our book.

Here are the ACL Music Festival performers with TV and film connections.

Childish Gambino

Unless you live in a hole, you know that Childish Gambino is Donald Glover, who voiced Simba in the blockbuster film The Lion King. He also appeared as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story and is the creator and star of the hit FX series Atlanta.

Jenny Lewis

You may, or may not, recognize Jenny Lewis from Troop Beverly Hills. The child actor also appeared on episodes of Webster, The Golden Girls, Growing Pains, Roseanne and more. In the 90s, she took a step back from acting and started focusing on her music instead.

Marcus Mumford

OK, so he’s not actually an actor himself, but Marcus Mumford is married to Carey Mulligan, whom you may recognize from Drive, The Great Gatsby, An Education, among many others. Mumford and Mulligan were childhood pen pals who lost touch and reconnected as adults after they were both involved with the film Inside Llewyn Davis. Although Mumford is not seen in the film, he voices the protagonist’s musical partner, Mike, who commits suicide before the beginning of the film.

Cardi B

Cardi recently appeared in the Jennifer Lopez helmed film Hustlers. She also makes an appearance in the WE series Untold Stories of Hip Hop where she opens up about her shocking #MeToo moment and exposes her first time having sex with Offset.

Lizzo

Lizzo also graces the screen in Hustlers and voiced a character in the UglyDolls movie. I’m quite sure this isn’t the last we’ll see of her in acting roles.

Bea Miller

Since coming in ninth place on season two of The X Factor when she was 13-years-old, Bea Miller has amassed quite the following. She has released two studio albums thus far and has an Instagram following of over 1.5 million.

Axl Rose

Alright, so Axl Rose hasn’t really done any acting. But he’s kind of a celebrity in his own right, don’t you think? Honestly, I’m shocked he hasn’t done reality TV. I thought for sure he’d done Celebrity Big Brother or I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. But, alas, his only acting connection is voicing a character in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Of course, the stage isn’t the only place to spot a celebrity. Keep your eyes on the crowd as well.

In 2018, we spotted the likes of Nina Dobrev, The Miz and Matthew McConaughey with wife Camila. Read all about it here. And if you want even more celeb sightings, check out our 2017 post too!
