The trailers for the science fiction drama Arrival do not do the film justice.

Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, this film is a true sci-fi adventure. Translation: it’s super smart.

You should see it. But you should not try to figure it out.

That’s not to say you won’t be able to follow. But you probably won’t be able to figure out the science so don’t try.

If you’re like me, you always try to stay a step ahead when watching a film. This is not the movie for that. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

If you aren’t aware of the plot, it goes a little something like this. When multiple mysterious extraterrestrial spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team is put together to investigate. Lead by Academy Award nominees Adams and Renner, the team takes a chance that could threaten their lives, and, quite possibly, humanity while attempting to figure out if the aliens have come in search of peace or something more sinister.

Incredibly acted, superbly written and fiercely entertaining, Arrival is worth a watch and will, most likely, be worthy come award season as well.

Arrival opens in theaters nationwide on November 11, 2016.
