The cast of Small Town Crime celebrated their SXSW premiere at the A-List Communications’ popup Supper Suite.

As we walked into the event, we immediately crossed paths with Octavia Spencer, prompting yours truly to say, “Oh, hi. You’re amazing.” Because, I mean, she’s amazing.

Also on site sipping on specialty cocktails from Maestro Dobel® Tequila’s and The Family Coppola’s Diamond Collection wines were cast members Michael Vartan, John Hawkes, James Lafferty and more.

Had I never been kissed, this guy would be my first choice. Though I’d use an alias of course.

Vartan and I chatted about the Alias pilot and how I think it’s the greatest TV pilot of all time.

We also spoke with Efren Ramirez about his time in Austin and his SXSW short It Began Without Warning. He’s come a long way since Napolean Dynamite!

In the film Small Town Crime,  an alcoholic ex-cop (Hawkes) finds the body of a young woman and, through an act of self-redemption, becomes hell-bent on finding the killer. However, he unwittingly puts his family in danger and gets caught up with several dark characters along the way.

Directors Esham and Ian Nelms told the Austin Chronicle that the film is a mix of Big Lebowski and Dirty Harry.

Small Town Crime has one final screening at SXSW on Friday, March 17, at the Alamo Lamar at 11am.
