Have you guys seen the trailer for the new "A Nightmare on Elm Street?"
The updated version stars Jackie Earle Haley(who operates a production company in San Antonio called JEH Productions) as Freddie. "Friday Night Lights'" Connie Britton is also in the film. BTW - according to Entertainment Weekly, FNL has been unofficially canceled by NBC. Read more about that HERE.
We know there will definitely by a Rachel Ray party, Fader Fort and Spin party (happening on March 19 at Stubb's BBQ and featuring Courtney Love and Hole)...but we have yet to hear who the BIG performers will be at most of this year's parties(and who all will be hosting them. Perez? You coming back?).
Kirsten from KLBG posted a blog today that says they got confirmation that the Stone Temple Pilots will preview their new LP with an appearance in Austin(Austin 360 also posted something about this). Kirsten also says Muse will perform(they are playing in Dallas March 17 and Houston on March 18) and hints that Soundgarden and Mötley Crüe may play as well.
And, my big scoop is that I hear Live Nation will host Justin Timberlake! Let's hope that's true.
Heard any other juicy details? Please pass them on.
Danny Gokey from the last season of "American Idol" was interviewed by Carlos and LB from The Bobby Bones Show the other day.
If any of you watched Idol Chat last season on FOX 7's Good Day Austin you may remember that Cruz LOVED him some Gokey. And speaking of Idol Chat, we'll be starting it up again next month, so make sure you tune in to Good Day Austin on Wednesdays, starting March 17th.
Watch me on last year's Idol Chat segments in the local Idol stories section HERE.
The SNL spin-off movie(sure to be a stellar success - insert sarcastic snort here) "MacGruber" is set to premiere at SXSW, despite the legal battle brewing with the creator of "MacGyver."
The parody, which stars SNL regulars Will Forte and Kristen Wiig(pictured with Ryan Phillipe), is being challenged by Lee Zlotoff, who is currently working on a "MacGyver" movie based on the 1985-92 series.
Seeing that MacGruber blows up at the end of every three minute sketch, anyone have ideas on how they'll drag this out for 90 minutes? Sounds like a Conehead move to me.
BTW - the awesome in my headline refers to the stars. I love me some Kristin Wiig! No word yet on if or which stars will attend.
FX and TWC are presenting the final episode of Nip/Tuck at the Paramount Theater on Wednesday, March 3rd. Kelly Carlson who plays Kimber will attend. See the commercial free series finale(and 100th episode) before the national airing and participate in a Q&A panel with Carlson after the screening.
Doors open at @ 6pm and the show screens at 7pm. Tickets are $10.
Rachael Ray will be returning to Austin for SXSW. This year she hosts her party at Stubbs.
Here is the save the date info: Click the pic below to see some pics I took of Rachael watching her hubby play while in the VIP area at last year's party:
The premiere of HBO's new film "TEMPLE GRANDIN" went down last night at the Austin Convention Center. Austin was chosen for the special premiere to highlight the local contributions that were made in making the movie. The premiere was hosted by HBO in partnership with The Austin Film Festival and Time Warner Cable of Austin. In attendance was Dr. Temple Grandin, whom the film is based on, Jenni Sherwood, Vice President of HBO Films, director Mick Jackson, as well as much of the cast and crew who worked on the film.
The film stars Claire Danes in the lead, along with David Strathairn(who has made a plethora of films but always makes me think of "The River Wild"), Catherine O'Hara(a Christopher Guest regular) and Julia Ormond(that lucky biotch from "Legends of the Fall").
Here are a couple pics of Temple at last night's premiere, one with director Mick Jackson, courtesy of photographer Jack Plunkett.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES IS SEEKING EXTRAS FOR THE NEW COEN BROTHERS FEATURE FILM “TRUE GRIT.” The film shoots in TX (Austin area, incl Granger & Blanko) during March, April & May of 2010. ClickHERE for more info.
I finally saw "The Hurt Locker" last night. One word = intense.
Jeremy Renner was the guest on Jimmy Fallon went I went to the show a couple of weeks back. He sang with Jimmy to Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind" which The Roots pianists/keyboardists did not know! How do you not know Billy Joel?
Anyway, here are some pics(actually taken of the TV b/c you can't take pics during the show. Duh.). Sigourney Weaver was the other guest that night.
Reporter Crystal Cotti's last day at FOX 7 was Friday. CC started with FOX 7 News as an intern and UT reporter.
Married to Democratic member of the Texas House of RepresentativesMark Strama, Crystal will now be focusing full time on her family(which includes two of the most adorable little girls).
Here's a pic of me and a friend with Crystal at her going away to do on Friday. We were on our way to Accenture's 20s themed formal, btw.
