"Beatdown" filming in Austin.

Film crews were set up this afternoon outside the 360 condos filming scenes for the new flick "Beatdown." According to movieset.com, "Beatdown" is a Legacy Filmworks production helmed by director Mike Gunther, an accomplished stunt coordinator. "Beatdown" is described as an action/drama with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)-style fighting and is listed to be filming December 7-21st.

The film stars Rudy Youngblood (from Mel Gibson's “Apocalypto”) as Brandon, a young street fighter who has fallen out of favor with the mob and is forced to fight for those close to him. It also features Eric Balfour who starred in “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and played the hippie guy in "Can't Hardly Wait." You know the one. He licked pot brownie off of Lauren Ambrose's face. He was also Theresa's baby daddy on "The OC." Speaking of "Can't Hardly Wait, " anyone remember Jason Segel in that film? I watched it a few weeks ago and spotted him for the first time in the star studded cast.

The flick also stars "Machete's" Danny Trejo and MMA fighter Michael “The Count” Bisping.

Grindstone, in association with MovieSet.com, organized a video contest for young MMA fighters where contestants submitted video clips of their best MMA moves, to win a free trip to Austin and a walk-on role in “Beatdown.” Winner Kevin Mattson was on location Friday, December 11th to participate in the biggest fight scene of the film.

I have entered several contest’s already, 2 recent video contest’s this year, because I have found a love for it, & consider creating & making Inspiring videos more than just a hobby, I just have a blast at it!!! & Ihave been in a few BodyBuilding Transformation Contests as well. and although I did not place in them, the experience for me was awesome, & the health & fitness benifits to me are priceless!!!I am always looking to enter a contest, but not just to enter, I have been working out with weight training, Boxing, & Martial Arts all my life. Over the years it has become so much more to me, & has become my passion, my way of life…if you took away my ability to stay & be physically active, you would be taking away the very air that I breath, & I would wither & die…When I discovered, I believe it was through my email, about the, ‘MMA Movie Star‘ Video Contest’ I was so excited about it!!! I could’nt wait to be able to combine all my skills & passions into one!!! I had so much fun through the whole process, for me it was a BLAST… itwas absolutely amazeing!!!
My wife Lisa & I had so much fun on this MMA Movie Video Contest vacation get away, (this was the first time just my wife Lisa & I had been away alone togetherin over 20 years!!!)It was so much more than what I had intisipated orexpected!!! The non stop excitement & action did not end & continued throughout the weekend!!! It was so exciting meeting everybody involved, seeing how things happen on the set in real life, everyone was so curtious & nice to us, & welcomed us like we were family, they really made me feel good. I had such a blast, I am so Grateful, to have had this chance!!!

As I was standing in the ring, I had to block everything out of my mind, like the fact that I was standing up there in front of, I think they said over 250 people. I had to stay focused, & pretend they were’nt there, lol… I would look at my wife every so often, & wink at her, & I wanted to burst out in laughter of disbelief, that I just could’nt believe I was actually on a movie set, being cast for a roll in a major film production, I was so excited!!! But I remained focused on what they wanted me to do. I would get sprayed with water between sets…it felt so cold, the temperature ouside had dropped below 40, I think it went down in the low 30’s. But as the takes took place, & through all the excitement, my adrenalin was racing, & that kept me warm… & it also helped standing under the lights in the middle of the ring, lol. I really admired all whom I met, but espesially the crew that worked with me in what I had to do in the ring. I am so excited still…this will be an experience I will NEVER forget!!!
…I kept telling my wife to pinch me..lol…am I dreaming!!!
I have fought really hard all my life for what little I have, & to survive…thiswas more than just a contest to me. I pour my heart & soul into what I do… & to make my way through my own adversaties, struggles & discouragments only to use them in my efforts to Inspire & encourage others…
