Variety reports that Adrien Brody will star in Robert Rodriguez’s re-do of the "Predator” franchise. RR is not directing but he is crediting with scripting the remake.
Nimrod Antal(is there any better name than Nimrod? I mean, really...)is directing the film and Variety says production is about to get under way on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios here in Austin. FOX has set “Predators” for release on July 9, 2010.
Topher Grace is reportedly in negotiations to join the action-adventure movie, to which Alice Braga ("I Am Legend"), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), Walt Goggins ("The Shield"), Rodriguez regular Danny Trejo(star of "Machete") and UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov have also been cast.In other news, SNL alum Norm McDonald appears at the Cap City Comedy Club this Friday and Satruday. The rather pricey tickets(at least I think so) range from about $25 -$30. Click HERE to purchase.
And more scoop on the Austin Film Fest. A special retrospective screening event of "Apollo 13" has been added to the festival lineup.
Scheduled for 6:00pm on Saturday, October 24th, at the Paramount, the event will include a special screening of the film and then a Q&A to follow with several important figures from the film and the actual launch. Academy Award winner Ron Howard, recipient of this year's Extraordinary Contribution to Filmmaking Award at AFF, will be present, as will his brother and actor in the film, Clint Howard. The film's screenwriters William Broyles, Jr. (AFF board member, founding editor of "Texas Monthly" and former editor of "Newsweek") and Al Reinert will also be at the Q&A. Broyles and Reinert were nominated for an Oscar for the script.
Remember that movie I posted a couple times about last year, "Sno Cone Inc.?" It was shot here in Austin and starred Morgan Fairchild among others. FOX 7 did a preview of the movie's premiere...
I heard it ended up going straight to video but I never heard much more about the flick. I guess this is why: http://bit.ly/YM9nb
