Gossip Dish for the Day

I got a tip that the paparazzi were storming the Omni in downtown Austin. Turns out it was just a group of photogs shooting something for the Austin Film Fest. Boo.

However, while researching the tip, I found out that Sully, the US Airways pilot who landed in the Hudson, is staying at the Omni. Not sure he classifies as a celeb but whatever. There is also a country music singer camping there... but since the store clerk has no idea who he is, I presume it's not anyone worth making a fuss for.

Rumor has it that since "Precious" is playing at the AFF, Oprah, Tyler Perry and/or Mariah Carey may be in town. Oprah and TP are executive producers of the film and Mrs. Nick Cannon plays a social worker in the film - and I read that she's almost unrecognizable.

The Aussie quartet JET played a private performance at the 101X studios this morning and you can see the boys for FREE tonight. They play a free show in the Warehouse District tonight(the corner of Fourth and Colorado streets specifically). The performance is part of a nationwide series of pop-up concerts to support the launch of Bud Light Golden Wheat(which sponsored some hilarious SNL outtakes that aired in the show's commercial breaks last week). Admission to the concert is free, with beer sales benefiting the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. Gates open at 6 p.m.
